Canon Pixma TS6020 Driver Download– If you’ve spent a lot of time buying printers, you’ve probably noticed how far they’ve come in the last few years. Today, printers do more than print, copy, and scan. Even affordable printers come with software that adds a lot of functionality to the platform.
Most of the time we will be the first to admit that these features are nothing but a gimmick. It is always important for us to go beyond the excitement and make an accurate analysis of whether the additional functions are actually useful.
There are many all-in-one printers on the market. However, Canon is one of the most respected brands in the print media industry. They definitely caught our eye when they announced that they would be bringing their European line of “Pixma TS” series printers to North America.
These models are some of the best-selling printers worldwide due to their compact size and impressive print quality. Until recently, not much was known about what this printer could do. We’ve decided we should get one of these printers and see if it’s justified all the attention it’s getting.
First glance
While all TS series printers are visually appealing, the Canon Pixma TS6020 is very attractive. It retains the standard layout we’d expect from an all-in-one printer but adds a few modern touches. The front-facing display is a touchscreen, so changing most settings is easy.
All the buttons on the front have LED lights that are barely visible when the printer is off. But the most striking feature of this printer is its compact form. When not in use, the face is folded for a total size of 12.5 x 14.7 x 5.5 inches. At around 14 pounds, it’s a bit heavier than you might expect. But that’s because Canon has packed a lot of powerful hardware into the printer, placing it firmly in the mid-range category.
Interface
The touchscreen interface has a sleek and professional appeal. When you first open it, you are presented with three simple options: Copy, Scan, Print. Tapping any of these buttons will start the job or display job-specific options.
Pressing the copy button prompts you for important information such as the number of copies you want, the type of paper you are printing, and a button that lets you choose between documents and photos. Tapping the gear icon displays additional features such as enlarging your image, adjusting the contrast, or scanning across multiple pages. The scan menu is very similar, but with additional features like resolution and target. Printing is the most diverse menu in the entire interface, and we’ll cover this feature in a moment.
At the bottom of the interface are four small buttons. The Wireless button lets you connect to a network or change network settings, the Cloud button lets you access stored files remotely, the gear icon lets you make universal settings that apply to all (or most) job types, and the help icon displays. an onscreen guide that explains some of the more advanced features.
It seems that this menu represents a new era of printing technology. While Canon isn’t the first to bring onscreen menus to the masses, it’s one of the first we’ve used that makes it simple to control print jobs from the printer. The menus felt intuitive as if we knew what we were doing before we had too much experience with printers. As we are completely familiar, we always prefer to change the print settings from our computer. However, we will gladly change the settings of our printer with this printer.
Oppression
The first thing we notice when printing documents from this printer is speed. It only takes six seconds for the first document to start printing from the moment you press the power button. For black and white, it only takes a few seconds per page.
Although inexpensive, it can still handle a fairly large volume. The hopper can hold up to 100 sheets of 8.5 x 11 paper or 20 sheets of glossy photo paper. Since the last thing we want to do is reload the paper tray in the middle of a print job, we’re happy to see that the hopper has never been lowered from the high-end model.
Color can be fast if you’re printing something with only a few diagrams, but photo printing is much slower. It takes about 15 to 20 seconds to print the photo. Total time really depends on your size and quality settings. However, you are always welcome to receive one of these self-printed images instead of a professional job.
Economy
While this isn’t the most expensive printer in the TS series, its quality puts it in the middle category. In reality, you get the same great system as the high-end model for much less.
But anyone who owns an inkjet printer knows that actually buying a printer is a very small cost compared to ink. In this field, the TS6020 is very economical. Canon uses a five-tank system. This allows Canon to put more ink in each cartridge. Since darker colors are usually made up of droplets of several different colors, the ink can be applied much lighter than other models. You’ll find your cartridges last longer with this ink. When it’s time to change colors, you’ll be lucky enough to replace just one or two cartridges.
Connection
Canon has made great efforts to support as many of these standards as possible. The built-in WiFi chipset does most of the heavy lifting and all 802.11 b/g/n is supported. Those of you with 802.11ac routers may wonder why the latest technology is not supported. Ac (and many other standards) are fully compliant. This printer only communicates on the 2.4 Ghz frequency, but you can still use it in almost any home network.
Once the printer is connected to your network, most users will transfer files via Netprint. This is standard technology built into Windows and Mac OS devices, so any desktop or laptop computer will work. You can also use Google Cloud Print or the increasingly popular Mopria app. If all else fails, you can always download the free Canon print app and print directly to the printer from your iOS or Android device with no configuration or driver installation required.
Lack
The TS series is sold as a series of high-end and high-style printers. While there are of course many high-tech features, the style of this printer is not as impressive as the TS9020. For the money we spent on this printer, we would love to see it look a little more modern.
Final Decision
Canon Pixma TS6020 is part of the whole process. It does a great job of printing documents and printing photos really well. Canon even includes three packs of premium photo papers so you can test them side-by-side against a standard sheet of paper to see if you’re willing to spend.
We recommend this printer to anyone who wants to copy, scan and print a variety of documents. While printing costs for an inkjet are very affordable, inkjets are not the best choice if you find that you only print text documents. In that case, you’ll want to look into monochrome laser printers. They cost a little more, but high-volume users will be happy with the penny per page.
On the other hand, if the design is important to you, we highly recommend considering the Canon TS9020. Technically, these printers are pretty much the same in terms of functionality. But with the 9020 you get a bigger screen and a much more attractive cover.
But outside of certain usage scenarios, the TS6020 had very few bugs that we could find. If you’re looking for a cost-effective way to get high-quality prints, you can’t go wrong.
